Yesterday I received the following text message…

Hey Chris, it’s Justin.  How are you? I’m off today and tomorrow.  If you have time to meet, there’s a guy from a men’s discipleship group I’m in that’s having back problems and he’s desperate for some healing.  I told him about you and he wants to come or I can give him your number.

Tonight, I met Justin and his friend Dwayne at a Starbucks.  Dwayne has been struggling from lower back pain.  He also has had Type II Diabetes for 10 years.

Me:

Are you in pain right now?

Dwayne:

I’m always in pain.

Me:

What happened?

Dwayne:

It’s from years of pushing cars (in a towing business).  My L1 and L2 are degenerating (arthritic) and my L3, L4, and L5 have been herniated since November.  I’m about to be scheduled for lumbar compression fusion surgery.

Because of his back pain, Dwayne preferred to stand during prayer.  In front of everyone (inside and outside of Starbucks) we invited the Kingdom of God over Dwayne’s body.  We rebuked all pain and damage.  Using the authority of Jesus Christ we also declared healing over his pancreas and freedom from diabetes.

Me:

What do you feel?

Dwayne:

I feel the Spirit.

Me:

How do you feel?

Dwayne:

Good!  The pain was an 8 (on a scale from 1 to 10) and now it’s a 5!

The three of us were so excited; we immediately started giving thanks to God.  Then we prayed again.

Dwayne:

The pain is down to a 4!  Also, I can feel that my blood sugar is lower!

Me:

How can you tell?

Dwayne:

I’ve been doing this for 10 years…I know!!

I heard it said before and I love repeating it…“People will pay hundreds of dollars to get the slightest relief from a chiropractor; God does it for free!”
