Four days ago at church, a friend named Tim came forward for prayer. Since Tim is a family friend and I am on the prayer team, he came to me.
Tim:
A couple of weeks ago, I found a dime-sized lump above one of my testicles. It has been painful…kind of a dull pain.
Tim’s wife is pregnant and due next month. I could tell that the possibility of this being a BIG medical disaster was weighing heavy on him. How typical for the enemy to bring illness at just the right moment to rob Tim of peace during this memorable time of his family’s life.
Me:
On a scale from 1 to 10, how bad is the pain?
Tim:
It’s a 4. It was uncomfortable walking to the front from where I was sitting.
I began rebuking the lump, the pain, and any illness in Tim’s body in the name of Jesus. I also rebuked fear and doubt. Finally, I claimed complete healing in Jesus’ name. Normally, I ask people what they felt during the prayer. For some reason I didn’t ask him anything….he just volunteered the information!
Tim:
The pain went away when you started praying.
Me (wide-eyed):
What?!
Tim:
Yeah…and I felt a burning sensation there (the affected area) when we prayed.
Me:
Have you ever felt that sensation before?
Tim:
No.
I started giggling with delight. I couldn’t stop…I was too excited. I just KNEW God was at work. I don’t know what Tim thought of me at that moment, but I was CONVINCED that if Tim was not healed right then and there, the process had already begun.
After the service, I spoke with Tim and his wife Tiffany; she had tears of joy as I recounted everything that happened. It felt so good to give her the report of what God was doing (though I’m sure Tim had already told her). It reminds me of what Jesus said in Luke 4:18-19…
“The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”
The next day, I called Tim and asked him if the lump was still there. He said he’d check and text me the answer.
Tim (through text):
It’s the same size. I am not scared. Keep praying.
Me:
I’m gonna hold on to the 2 things that happened: pain went away & the burning sensation. God is a healer–It’s His NAME (Jehovah Rophe).
In my mind, I wondered what God was doing. Clearly he was doing something or Tim would not have had those sensations. But what was God’s timetable?
Today, four days after the prayer, I got a call from Tim…
Tim:
It’s gone.
I don’t remember what Tim said or what I said after that. All I know is that I was in tears as we celebrated over the phone this God who loves us so much! Wow!
Out of curiosity, I went online to see what the possible diagnoses are when someone has his former symptoms. Here is what I found…
Possible causes of a painful testicle include:
- A cyst-like lump in the scrotum that contains fluid and dead cells
- Epididymitis
- Infection of the scrotal sac
- Injury or trauma
- Mumps
- Orchitis (testicular infection)
- Testicular torsion
- Testicular cancer
- Varicocele
I am not medically savvy enough to know what these things are. All I know is that it doesn’t matter–the diagnosis could have been ANYTHING. Since God is a healer, Tim is COMPLETELY HEALED!
