If someone offered you a free, unscratched lottery ticket, would you reject it? Sure, the odds are that it’s not a winner, but what if it is? What do you have to lose? Now, I realize that this whole healing thing is unusual…especially with strangers, but if you were suffering and there was a 1 in 1,000 chance of being healed, why would you not humor the person offering the healing?
While I don’t normally write about the rejection I experience, I get it almost every day and I am always surprised by it. Louie and I approached a man in a motorized cart at the College Grove WalMart and politely asked him if the reason he was in the cart was because of his legs. He said it was. Informing him of the healing ministry, I asked if we could pray for his legs.
Man:
No, I’m busy right now.
Me:
Too busy to be healed?
Man:
Yeah, I’m busy.
Mark 6:5-6…
“He (Jesus) could not do any miracles there, except lay his hands on a few sick people and heal them. And he was amazed at their lack of faith.”
We saw another woman in a motorized cart. Her name is Sabrina. Asking permission to pray for her, she enthusiastically consented. She told us that she injured her back 10 years ago while lifting something during a move. Her back was re-injured during a fall as she stepped off of a curb. Her lower back was in pain as she spoke.
We prayed.
Me:
What did you feel as we prayed?
Sabrina:
Tingling…in my lower back!
Me:
Did you feel that tingling BEFORE the prayer?
Sabrina:
No.
Me:
God is working in your back!
Sabrina:
I was getting ready to leave the store when you approached me. The pain was so bad I had to leave.
Me:
On a scale from 1-10, how bad is the pain now?
Sabrina:
Zero! I don’t feel ANY pain!
The best part of this whole thing was having Louie with me. I want to encourage him in the spiritual gifts and have him step-out in faith, realizing that it’s not him, but the God who wants to work through him.
Later this evening, I met Boe and Tim for a healing appointment in Santee. We were meeting with a woman named Sarolly who went to Boe’s church. Sarolly had several debilitating ailments:
- 2 hernias in the lower back
- 2 hernias in the neck
- RST (which makes your body feel pain for ailments you don’t have)
- Migraines
- Severe depression and anxiety
Sarolly:
These things have overtaken my life many times.
It was obvious that this family was oppressed and they needed freedom.
We huddled around Sarolly and began dismissing the ailments one by one. Then we spoke healing over her body.
Me:
What did you feel as we were praying?
Sarolly:
My back started pulling. I didn’t know if it was a good thing or a bad thing.
Me:
Did you feel that before the prayer?
Sarolly:
No.
Me:
Then it’s a good thing! Let’s keep praying!
We prayed again.
Sarolly:
I felt a heat move from the top of my head all the way down through my entire body. Now the pain is almost gone!
Me:
On a scale from 1-10, what was the pain before the prayer?
Sarolly:
An eight…Now it’s a 3!
After practically dancing around the room with joy, I told everyone about a prophetic image I received as we prayed the second time.
Me:
Sarolly, did you used to ride a bike?
Sarolly:
Yes.
Me:
When is the last time you rode a bicycle?
Sarolly:
Before the accident.
Me:
While we were praying the second time, I got an image of a bicycle helmet……I think the Lord may be telling you that you are going to ride again.
Sarolly:
My husband recently bought me a bike and has been asking me to ride with him, but I have to say “no” each time because of these issues. I was never the ballerina type; I was always a tomboy. I love sports. It really bothers me that I can’t ride with him.
Boe:
Because of your love of sports, this disease strikes at the core of your being. By the way, I got an image of a piston or shock-absorber while we were praying. Does the bike you recently bought have a piston on it?
Carlos (Sarolly’s husband):
Yes.
Ever since we started praying, the mood in the house lifted. Sarolly started smiling. We drove back recognizing a very different feeling in that home…it was free.
